Asia Pacific Leaders’ Conclave on Malaria Elimination will Commence on April 24th at New Delhi

Despite progress towards eliminating the disease, certain provinces and districts continue to struggle to reach elimination, particularly those with a large proportion of rural and tribal indigenous communities - and one such community is the Orang Rimba.

APLMA is an affiliation of Asian and Pacific heads of government formed to accelerate progress against malaria and to eliminate it in the region by 2030.

Despite previous successes in reducing malaria incidence, the Solomon Islands has the highest incidence rate in the Asia Pacific region. This article delves into the challenges and strategies needed to combat this resurgence and highlights the critical role of leadership, community engagement, and sustained funding in addressing the crisis effectively.
